Although we do not audition prospective members, we do
expect certain fulfillments. An ability to read music
is a prerequisite. Such matters as
vocal quality, blend, projection, and diction can be managed
in the process of weekly rehearsals. Regular attendance and
committed participation are obvious requirements. Our
standards are high.
Although passion, dedication and the discipline of practice
and rehearsals are all important, the most fundamental
criterion for any member of any choral group is the ability
to match and reproduce pitch successfully. Pitch is
paramount, and we would suggest private instruction rather
than group performance for those still developing their
understanding and reproduction of pitch.
Monthly dues are collected. Members also pay for their
musical scores and are expected to work toward keeping the
Society financially stable.
